View from the plane. View from the side of the road. I should totally turn this photo into a car advert or something. People say ‘advert’ instead of ‘ad’ here. That extra syllable makes all the difference. Edinburgh, as seen from Edinburgh Castle. This is what I think of when I think of Europe. Ironically, Britons don’t consider themselves as Europeans. Whee, cannon! I can’t tell you how many men straddled the cannon. Well, I can. There were three. Statue on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh. Probably my favorite photo of the bunch. I didn’t mean for the white balance to be all bluish, but I’m pretending I did it on purpose to be artsy. My new best friend. He’s rather reticent, but he’s hot so it’s okay. (Apparently, I have resorted to hitting on inanimate objects.) This is an actual pet cemetery. Scots are silly! And now I’m being culturally insensitive. Korean-Americans are stupid. The Scottish countryside. ‘Twould be lovelier were the sun out, but alas, ‘twas not. (Why I have suddenly switched to speaking in Old English is anyone’s guess.) I like the vintage-y looking labels in the window. The William Wallace monument, from afar. They love that dude over here. I’ve never even seen Braveheart, yo. Mel Gibson. Erm, I mean William Wallace again. The Wallace monument close up. Some lake. I mean, loch. Not Loch Ness though. I think this is one of the little lochs near Loch Lomond. This beach is literally five minutes from my dorm. Seriously, every time I look out the window I’m like, ‘Holy nutbags, I go to school here? Yeah, I’m just rubbing it in your face now.

All of Scotland looks like a postcard, honestly. If these photos look half decent it’s because the landscape is freaking beautiful, not because my camera skills bear any resemblance to that of an actual photographer.

But enough of the self-deprecation! (I’m clearly just scraping for compliments anywho.) I heart Scotland.

Somehow I don’t think that would be as successful on a t-shirt.

P.S. Yesterday Dan Quayle, of all people, came here to speak about stuff. Time warp! (Especially with the Coolio thing, and the fact that Tiffany performed here during Orientation Week. What the faheezy is going on?)

Is it bad that I think it would be really cool if all those pets came back to life? Nice pictures, Claudia.

your new best friend looks like Jack Davenport!

and i’m insanely jealous of your scottish-ness. i want the pretty.

Rachel: Haha, that's totally why he's my new best friend. It's Commodore Norrington!

Steven

aww man you’re making me miss scotland so much.

donaville

i can see why the scots embrace the color green. everything over there is so green! even the pet cemetary. not at all what i’d imagine a pet cemetary to look like … though, the only one i’ve ever seen is the one from stephen king’s incorrectly spelled “pet sematary.”

Wendy

Awesome pictures! Thank you for sharing them!

Jasmin

Gorgeous photos – I love the last 3. You’re right, every thing looks postcard perfect there. I can’t believe you go to school right by the beach either!

Ian

you pretty much just sold me on going to school in scotland for a semester. that place is beautiful.

Steph

amazing. absolutely amazing.

sami

scotland is my favourite place in the world! you’re lucky. most brits don’t even realise how nice scotland is – they think it consists of edinburgh and glasgow and that the highlands are non existant. where are you staying? i’ve been there countless times because my father is obsessed with the place. i didn’t used to apprecite it but recently i’ve realised how beautiful it is. climb ben nevis. it’s wonderful :)

Rachel: I think Scotland is my favourite place in the world as well. I'm at St Andrews.

Rachel

I like the view of the William Wallance from afar photo . Very mystical looking. Scotland looks amazing.

girlwonder

you are so living in a time warp. and a REALLy bad one at that.

marianne

tiffany is still playing shows?

tiffany is alive??

nice pictures.

Julie

Scotland looks beautiful. And it’s getting loads of good press, apparently – my cousin works in London and she went on holiday there with her roommates and decided that “scotland is the best place on earth.”

wiley

packs bags and runs to scotland
if you get some time off from feeding your digipet, you should check out this badass movie called “pulp fiction.”

Feel lucky about Braveheart. My family has traced the geneology far enough back to prove that our line of “Wallace” is the closest bloodline of Sir William Wallace still in existance. My dad’s parents are only second generation living in the US and not Scotland. We are also desendants of Robert the Bruce. So when Braveheart came out, everyone was so excited that they were making a movie about our family. My dad freaking loves that movie and I run everytime it comes on TV now. We even have an authentic replica of his sword that we had made with our coat of arms before the movie came out. It weighs like 30-40 lbs. Yeah, so feel fortunate that you haven’t seen the movie. It’s good, but long and I am terribly burnt out.

priscilla

thankyou SOOO Much for these pictures. i’m so envious, it hurts. almost.
