Happy New Year, wenches!
2004 was a pretty good year for me. It is time to put on your reminiscing caps and journey with me back through this past year! Dun dun dun!!!
Yeah. Anywho.
2004 was the year I turned twenty. It was the year I spent as much time out of the US as I did in it – I lived in Korea for two months and Scotland for four. Although Scotland was an amazing experience, the Korea thing was definitely more intense and life-changing for me, for several reasons.
My time in Korea was the first time I’d lived outside of America for any extended period of time away from my family. It was completely random and impromptu, and it’s the single most ballsy decision I’ve made in my life thus far. My trip to the UK was very organised and planned (I’d decided a year before that I would be going) and was a school thing so I was in a pretty controlled environment. Also, while there are some notable differences between the US and the UK (and not just the S and K in the acronyms), they are both Western cultures and so the differences are not as extreme as those between the US and nonwestern countries like Korea.
2004 was also the year I voted for the first time. And it was the year I finally cut my hair shorter than shoulder length for the first time. Ironically, I feel that the latter was a more significant event in my life.
The coolest part about all this is that at this time last year, I had no idea that I’d end up doing all the things I did and experiencing all the experiences I… experienced. In 2005, I’ll be finishing up my third year of college, taking the MCAT, and who knows what else.
Hopefully some cool stuff, man!
So here’s to an even more unpredictable, crazy, weird, fun, memorable 2005.
Clink.
(Oh, that was us tapping our champagne glasses against one another. Not me just randomly saying a slang term for jail.)

Here’s to oh-five. Brint it on!
Rachel: Isn't Brint one of Zoolander's male model friends? You know, one of the guys that got killed in the freak gasoline fight accident?

Cesar
You know, I totally meant to write ‘bring,’ but in honor of my favorite deceased male model, I will now fore-go the word ‘bring’ for ‘brint’ in every situation. RIP, dude.
Steven

happy new year, rachel! here’s to 2005…a year that started off with liquor hitting my empty stomach way too fast while i spent 2 hours puking and being cradled by my ex-boyfriend. what else happened? couldn’t tell you. even if i did remember, the act of attempting to think is this hangover’s painful hangover.
le sigh. leeeeeee sigh.
and by the way, your 2004 was a pleasure to read. i’m betting 2005 will be the same :)
