Part One: Music
Part Two: Television
Part Three: Live Shows

I think I watched almost a hundred movies this year, but probably only about a quarter of them were actually released in ‘07. Oh well. Some of my favorite albums from this year didn’t even come out this year either. I know I’m five billion years behind, but how amazing is Cursive’s The Ugly Organ? I heard it when it first came out and thought it was horrendous; then for some reason I popped it in (okay, double-clicked it in iTunes) a few weeks ago and have been listening to it at least three or four times a day.

Anyway.

Rachel’s Tops in Movies for 2007.

SCARY: 30 Days of Night, 28 Weeks Later.
Also the best two ‘Movies with a number in the title’. I’m hardly ever scared by movies anymore, but these two… let’s just say if I had a slightly weaker urethral sphincter, I’da peed myself.

FUNNY: Knocked Up, Waitress, Hot Fuzz.
Two of the three are about pregnant chicks, weirdly enough. (Oh, and I haven’t seen Juno yet, but I’m pretty sure that’s going to be added to this list, based what I’ve heard so far.)

BIG-BUDGET: Transformers, Grindhouse.
Sometimes money is good.

SURPRISE: Disturbia, No Country For Old Men.
I say ‘surprise’ because I wasn’t expecting to like either of these, and I did, a lot.

The worst:

The Hills Have Eyes II.
Resident Evil: Extinction.
Halloween (Rob Zombie version).
Drive Thru
These were all just frightfully bad. Some bad horror movies are actually good (i.e., entertaining / funny), and that’s what I expected from these, with the exception of Drive Thru, which was an impromptu viewing. But they were just BAD.

+++++

I’m kinda out of stuff to make lists about. Top poops? I made a pretty nice thick coil a few weeks ago. I could do Top tops—like my orange t-shirt, or the purple long-sleeve number. I guess I could do my favorite journal entries, but I’m not that into myself, and plus that’d mean I’d have to go back and read them all, and even with that five-month hiatus, I don’t really feel like doing that. Maybe I’ll just make some new year’s resolutions or something. Well, probably not, ‘cause I never do. You can just ignore this paragraph because it’s just me thinking and typing whatever comes up. (I was gonna say ‘thinking out loud’ but that’s not right either.) Anyway. It would probably be helpful if I told you you could ignore this paragraph BEFORE you started reading it. But what do you think I am, some kind of professional helper? Like a frackin’ (note to self: Should probably start watching Battlestar Galactica, if only to have a real excuse to use the word ‘frack’) doctor or something? Oh wait.

Now I feel bad for compiling my list of favorite posts. *Hangs head in shame.

It’s funny that you put Halloween on your worst list. That’s my all-time favorite movie of 2007 lol. I’m a big fan of Rob Zombie though, as a musician and a director.

top books of 2007?
top actors/actresses?
top celebrity disasters?

Let’s get married? Just a thought.

Ok so, your email address totally ate like 2 of my messages, but: I totally am a big lesbian, but shhh. I’d hate to tarnish my reputation! I also wanted to let you know that I can now be found at http://neonglow.net,
thanks to the lovely legal department at polaroid. :D

p.s. I had waffles earlier and although I wasn’t drunk, they were delicious and you are still fabulous!

danny

juno was great- you would love it. you should also check out once, which i believe is technically late 2006, but a wonderful movie nonetheless.

as for remaining top lists… songs? tv episodes? eh, that’s getting a bit specific…

Marianne

Juno was good, but I had to get over the back and forth quips and the band name dropping, because they were making my eyes roll out of my head. Michael Cera was my favorite character because he was probably the most realistic. I’m interested to hear what you think about it.

Maybe you can rank your or other people’s Tops lists. Top Tops Lists.

owen

didn’t the killers release something this year? sams town?

Fatima

I haven’t seen most of the movies on your top picks but I definitely agree with you on Transformers and Disturbia. ;)

I hope you had a great Christmas! ;D

A little smile, a word of cheer, a bit of love from someone near; a little gift from one held dear, best wishes for the coming year… May you have a wonderful 2008! _
